Assisted Swim Evaluations

Starting in 2026, we are asking that any families who sign a swimmer up for Assisted Swim attend one of our Evaluation Sessions on May 11th, 12th, or 13th. The goal of the Assisted Swim program is to help swimmers who may not yet be fully ready for competitive swim to achieve sufficient endurance and technique to be able to compete in the regular events by the end of the season. It is a great way to learn about competitive swim and to develop basic proficiency in one or more strokes. It is not, however, swimming lessons, and in the past some treated it as such. This takes up a lot of the coaches' time and prevents others from participating or receiving the instruction they need. It also presents a safety concern as these swimmers will be swimming in the main pool, which is deeper than the pool we use for Mini Bites swim lessons and inappropriate for those who lack basic water skills.

During these evaluations, our coaches will ensure that swimmers meet the criteria for the Assisted Swim program as outlined on the Assisted Swim Overview page. If our coaches decide that your swimmer is not yet ready for Assisted Swim, they will recommend further swim lessons through the Mini Bites program (if spots are available; they fill up fast!) or a local pool such as a YMCA. In that event, your registration fee for that swimmer will be refunded in full (including payment processing fees), and swimmers who may be on the waitlist for Assisted Swim will be invited to register and join the team.

We strongly urge any families with questions about Assisted Swim or this new policy to contact the team using the Contact Us link. Our goal is for swimmers to have fun, be safe, and get better at swimming, and we are grateful for your understanding in this matter!
