Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the 2026 Swim Season! 

We are excited for another fun and successful summer with the Cassel Hills Piranhas Swim Team!

🚨 PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE EMAIL CAREFULLY. IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING PRACTICES, COMMUNICATION, EVALUATIONS, FEES, AND UPCOMING EVENTS FOR THE 2026 SEASON. 🚨

Important Communication Information

This season, we will use the Band App as our primary form of communication. If you have not already done so, please download the free app and join our team group using the link below.

Joining the Band App is extremely important to ensure you receive all team updates and information throughout the season. This will be our only informational email for the season, so please join as soon as possible. For urgent or time-sensitive matters, we will also send push notifications through SwimTopia.

Practice Begins Monday, May 11 The first two weeks will consist of evening practices. 📍 Location

Please Come Prepared With

  • Swimsuit
  • Goggles
  • Towels
  • Sunscreen
  • Water bottle

We plan to practice in the water whenever weather permits. Per our weather policy, swimmers will be in the water when temperatures are 60 degrees or above. If temperatures are lower, coaches may hold assessment-only practices. If an assessment-only practice is scheduled, a message will be sent through the Band App and SwimTopia. Please keep in mind that the pool is heated for swimmers.

Evening Practice Schedule

  • Ages 10 & Under: 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM
  • Ages 11 & Older: 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

New Swimmers If the weather is cold, practices will be assessment only. Assessments are used to place swimmers into the correct practice group. Swimmers will only be in the water for approximately 10–15 minutes in small groups so no one gets too cold. Coaches will distribute assessment tickets (Gold, Purple, or White) indicating practice group placement.

Once your swimmer has been assessed, they are still welcome and encouraged to participate in regular evening practices.

Returning Swimmers If the weather is colder, returning swimmers should not report for evening practice. 🚨 There will be NO dryland sessions during evening practices. 🚨 If the weather is warm enough, swimmers should attend normal practice. Please use the guidelines below to determine your swimmer’s morning practice group. If you have any questions, please contact Coach Tricia through the Band App.

🏅 Practice Groups Practice Session #1 – Gold / Advanced ⏰ 8:15 AM – 10:15 AM

  • Ages 13 and older
  • Coaches may move swimmers up or down based on ability

Practice Session #2 – Purple / Intermediate ⏰ 9:15 AM – 10:15 AM

  • Ages 9–12
  • Coaches may adjust placement based on ability

Practice Session #3 – White / Beginner ⏰ 10:15 AM – 11:00 AM

  • New 9/10-year-olds
  • Swimmers ages 8 and under

Assisted Swimmer Evaluations All assisted swimmers who are registered or currently on the waitlist are asked to attend ONE evaluation session with Coach Jen on one of the following dates:

  • May 11
  • May 12
  • May 13

🕕 Evaluations begin at 6:00 PM each evening. Each swimmer only needs to attend one session. If you are unable to attend any of the listed dates, please contact Coach Jen through the Band App to discuss alternative arrangements. Once evaluations are completed and swimmer placements are finalized, families will receive placement information via email.

📅 Assisted swimmer practices will begin Tuesday, May 26. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Coach Jen through the Band App.

Mock Meet & Parent Meeting — Tuesday, May 19 We will hold a Mock Meet for both competitive age groups beginning at 6:00 PM. The Mock Meet Helps

  • New swimmers learn how swim meets operate
  • Parents understand volunteer positions and responsibilities

The Mock Meet will be loaded into SwimTopia so families can declare swimmer participation. Additional instructions will be sent closer to May 19.

Parent Meeting The parent meeting will immediately follow the Mock Meet. We welcome all questions and look forward to helping everyone have a successful swim season.

Families paying by cash or check may turn in registration fees and volunteer deposits to Rhyane at this time. 🚨 ALL FEES ARE DUE BY JUNE 9 🚨

Assisted swim families are also welcome to attend the parent meeting.

Registration Reminder Registration remains open, with Early Bird pricing available through May 19. If you know anyone interested in joining the team, please encourage them to register soon.

Cassel Hills Pool Membership A pool membership is not required to join the swim team. However, the City of Vandalia is once again offering residential pool membership pricing to swim team families for the summer season. Membership Purchase Dates

  • Swimmers registered by May 22 may visit the Vandalia Rec Center beginning May 23 to purchase passes.
  • Swimmers registered between May 23 and June 5 may begin purchasing passes on June 7.

When purchasing your membership, please mention the Cassel Hills Piranhas Swim Team. The Rec Center will verify swimmer registration using the team master list. This special pricing applies to:
